Kaaya Nagri is a hand-woven textile, embroidered with the artist's palm prints. The work examines how cultural knowledge is transmitted through hands-on practice across distances. By learning traditional textile techniques in London, the artist accesses ancestral knowledge through physical engagement rather than formal instruction. The palm prints serve as both personal marks and cultural records, showing how individual bodies carry collective memory within diaspora communities. The project also documents khadi's changing role, from a symbol of independence during India's freedom movement to a contemporary sustainable art practice.
